About the Author
Judi Kern is a passionate storyteller, proud grandmother, and lifelong dreamer whose words light up the hearts of children and adults alike. Inspired by the curiosity and wonder of her own grandchildren, Judi began writing books that celebrate imagination, self-worth, and the magic of everyday moments.
Her debut picture book, Does This Make Me Look Pretty?, launched a new chapter in her life—transforming her lifelong love of storytelling into a published reality. Since then, she’s continued to build a growing library of children’s books, planners, and keepsake journals that reflect her heartfelt mission: to create beautiful, meaningful stories that leave a lasting spark.
When she’s not writing, Judi is creating whimsical coloring books, designing handcrafted jewelry through her brand Tagua & Timber, or building dreamy planner collections through her imprint Emberlight Press. Her work blends creativity, craftsmanship, and soul—inviting readers and creators of all ages to embrace their unique stories.
Through every project, Judi aims to inspire joy, courage, and connection—one page, one story, and one reader at a time.

The Journey of a New Author:
Inspiring Young Minds
As a new author, my heart is filled with hopes and dreams for the future—especially when it comes to inspiring children to discover the joy of reading!
There’s something magical about watching a child dive into a book, their imagination taking flight as they embark on new adventures, meet unforgettable characters, and learn valuable lessons along the way.
Writing for children is not just about telling stories; it’s about igniting a passion for reading that can last a lifetime. My dream is to create books that resonate with young readers, sparking curiosity and encouraging them to explore the world through the pages of a book. ![]()

Lets Talk About Inner Beauty
Let's Talk About Inner Beauty!
In today’s world, where images and standards of beauty are everywhere, it’s more important than ever to teach our children that true beauty comes from within. Here’s why starting young is essential:
Self-Confidence: When children understand that their worth is not defined by appearance, they grow up with a strong sense of self. This confidence will help them navigate challenges and embrace who they truly are.
Compassion and Kindness: Teaching kids to value inner beauty cultivates empathy. They learn to appreciate others for their character and actions, fostering deeper connections and friendships.
Resilience Against Pressure: By instilling the belief that inner beauty is what truly matters, we equip our children to resist societal pressures and unrealistic beauty standards. They’ll learn to love themselves for their unique qualities.
Positive Self-Image: Emphasizing inner beauty encourages children to focus on their talents, strengths, and the joy they bring to the world, leading to a healthier self-image.
Let’s empower our little ones to embrace their true selves and shine from the inside out!
